Turning Two...

Sweet Sawyer,
It makes me smile to think that you might read this one day, so I'm writing this just for you...
Tomorrow, you'll be two, big girl! As I sit here and type this, I still cant believe your second birthday is already here. The past two years have gone by so quickly, and much in part because you've been oh so much fun! With you, there is hardly ever a dull moment...what a joy you've been to your Daddy and I. Just for memories-sake I thought Id write a little bit of what you're like now, at two years old...

You are 35 inches tall (I know, you're a tall thing! I guess you get that from Daddy) and you weigh 31 pounds.
As of the past few weeks, you're completely potty trained.
You know several songs (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Jesus Loves Me, Please come to Boston, Your ABC's, The Happy Birthday Song, Barbara Manatee (so funny), Veggie Tale Theme Song, and Ring Around the Rosie)
You can count to twenty.
There's no way I could make a list of all the things you say...there are just too many! You're quite the chatter box!
Your favorite TV shows are Sid the Science Kid, Curious George, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Barney, and Caillou. Oh, and of course all of the Veggie Tale Movies!

You love being outside, watermelon, playing ball, (lately you're loving basketball, or baget-ball, as you say) visiting any park or indoor playground, talking non-stop, playing with your dollhouse and your "Polly's" at Mimi and Papaw's house, laughing and being silly, dancing, cuddling on the couch, bath time, music, ice cream, reading, exploring, dress up, riding the little car-carts on our trips to the grocery store, animals, and swimming.

My Precious Little girl,
I can still remember telling your Mimi on the day you were born, that God must love me a lot more than I realize, to have entrusted me with a gift as wonderful as you.
There aren't enough words to express the love that I have for you, my sweet daughter. It is such a privilege to be your mother, and next to marrying your Daddy, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You've brought so much joy and laughter into my life, and there hasn't been a day since your arrival that you haven't made me smile. You are, without a doubt, the sweetest, smartest, most beautiful little girl Ive ever seen...and I'm so proud to call you mine. Your blue eyes that twinkle when you smile...your quirky little curls...your contagious smile...you're just perfect.
I'm teaching you new things every day, but you're also teaching me a great deal. You've brought a new sense of purpose to my life, and I can hardly remember what filled my days before you came along.
My hope for you, Sawyer, is that you will grow into a young woman who loves and fears the Lord...a woman who has placed her hope in Jesus Christ, and has a deep love and concern for others. I hope you'll always follow your dreams, and I also hope you know how incredibly beautiful and unique you are. You're such a treasure. I also hope that you know what an amazing man your Daddy is. He is so good to me, and Ive been so blessed to be his wife. I could never have asked for a better husband, or a better father for you...he simply adores you.
While I certainly don't know all that there is to being a mother, I do know that my heart is filled to the brim with love for you. There will definitely be times when I mess up, but I am going to make a promise that no matter what, I'll never stop loving you. I promise to always try and be there
when you need an open ear. I promise to play with you, read to you, sing to you, and just be silly with you. I promise to pray with you and for you. I promise to shower you with lots of hugs and kisses. I promise to keep your secrets. I promise to teach you about the Bible and the awesome love that our Heavenly Father has for you. I promise to protect you. I promise to always try to be the very best mother I know how to be...for you.
Sweet Girl, I thank God for you every single day. You'll always be my baby, and I love you so very much. Always Remember...Jeremiah 1:5
Mommy
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Basketball and Puddle Jumpin'...

Yesterday, we made lemonade out of lemons...
It rained, so it was a little too nasty to run around and play in the grass like we would normally do. Instead, we did something better...we went Puddle Jumpin! On our street their were several puddles, so we just let Sawyer have at it! She was of course, loving it. Preston and I had to get in on some of the fun too.
Sawyer also played her first game of basketball...Preston was LOVING that. And what would be a real basketball game without at least one bloody nose? That's right, Sawyer hit her face on the rim and got her very first bloody nose. I was completely freaking out, but bless her little heart, as the blood was running down her face and she was half way crying, she was hollering, "I wanna try again!" Now if that's not a true athlete, then I don't know what is.
She's been asking to play basketball all day...but I wont dare tell her daddy that though. He already has big dreams of her playing women's pro-basketball ever since we found out she was in the 99Th percentile for her height, so he doesn't need any more encouragement. Plus I don't like bloody noses.

Hat Making...

Sometimes, Sawyer and I sit and talk while she's eating her lunch. Occasionally I may read her a book, or she'll watch little clips of the teletubbies or Barney on the computer while she eats. But sometimes...we make napkin hats, and she thinks that's the most fun of all.

Mimi's Lipstick, Revisited...

Sawyer got a hold of her Mimi's lipstick again yesterday...of course, Mom let her. As soon as she caked it on her lips she told us she wanted to go look at herself in the mirror, and let me tell you...she really thought she was lookin' good. She just kept making faces at herself, and saying, "Oh, you're bootful (beautiful), you're gorgeous!" She makes me laugh a lot...every. single. day.

Surprise!

This past Friday night I was supposed to be going on a date with Preston...
It was all planned out. We were going to drop Sawyer off with my parents at a nearby restaurant and then we were going out to eat ourselves (somewhere else).
So, we walk into Bravo to drop Sawyer off (or so I think) and I walk into a room full of all of our friends there to celebrate my birthday! I was in total SHOCK. I don't even know what I did or said, because I just couldn't believe it...I was just caught way off guard!
My sweet husband planned the whole thing without me knowing. That night, Preston also surprised me with a BEAUTIFUL Pandora bracelet...he did such a good job (as usual) of picking it out all by himself! I love it...and I've worn it everyday since. I really could not have imagined spending my birthday in any better way. It was just so nice of everyone to come and spend their Friday night with us, and I had SO MUCH FUN! It was the best birthday...
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures because I wasn't expecting that Id be needing my camera that night. I'm sure someone there got some though, so if I get any...I'll be sure to post them!

At The Playground...

Sawyer and I visited one of the playgrounds near our house this morning...we had loads of fun, and as always, she asked me to go down the slide with her a billion times. We were the only two there...I happily obliged.
